Connections Clearwater a Huge Success for SCRT

Every year Joanna and I look forward to Connections Trade Show and Conference. We love Vegas, but the show in Clearwater is more relaxed, casual and refreshing in my opinion.

During the Trade Show hours, I had a great time at the SCRT booth, meeting Members and answering questions from non-Members. We had great participation and even signed up 9 new Members including 5 Associates.

On Thursday evening, we had the SCRT General Membership Meeting where the Board of Directors for 2011 was voted in. The General Meeting was followed immediately by the Membership Reception. The atmosphere was festive and SCRT president Gary Glenn and his wife Debbie were great hosts, holding the event in their suite. I think we ate, drank, laughed and socialized until well past 9:30.

One of the highlights of the show for SCRT Members were the prize giveaways. In all, Members won $450 in cash, 2 Windsor vacuum cleaners and a Shaw area rug.

On Sunday, the SCRT Board of Directors Meeting was held.  One of the highlights of this meeting was an expansion of the Scholarship Program. In the past, new Members were not eligible for scholarships until after the first full year of Membership. The Board decided unanimously to make $100 in scholarship money available immediately to new Members who wish to attend a class. Of course, Members in good standing for at least one year are still eligible for the $300 scholarship.

By the way, it is not too early to make plans and register for the September 7-9 Connections Conference and Trade Show in Fabulous Las Vegas. Hope to see you all there!
